Upcoming Press Conference

Seeking Truth, Accountability, and Justice

In October 2026, a Coroner’s Inquest will be held into the death of Regis Korchinski-Paquet, who died on May 27, 2020, after police entered her home in Toronto. This inquest represents a critical opportunity to examine the circumstances surrounding her death, hear from witnesses, and put forward recommendations aimed at preventing similar tragedies in the future. The inquest will be live online and we will update the public when it is available.

For Regis’ family, community, and supporters, this process is not only about understanding what happened—it is about ensuring accountability, systemic change, and dignity in how lives are valued and protected from state violence.

Press Conference – May 27, 2026

Honouring Regis on the 6th Anniversary of Her Death

On the anniversary of Regis’ death, we will gather to honour her life and renew calls for justice ahead of the inquest.

📍 Location: PWA Toronto
📅 Date: May 27, 2026
🕒 Time: 10 to 11 AM

Family members, community advocates, and supporters will speak about the importance of the upcoming inquest, ongoing concerns about police accountability, and the broader need for systemic change.

Media are invited to attend.

Why This Inquest Matters

Coroner’s inquests play a vital public role. While they do not assign criminal responsibility, they can:

  • Bring transparency to cases involving state and institutional actors
  • Amplify the voices of families and communities
  • Identify systemic failures
  • Recommend reforms to prevent future deaths

For many, the inquest into Regis’ death is part of a broader struggle against anti-Black racism, police violence, and the over-policing of people in crisis.
